Kim Kee – Professional Profile

Wellness & Wholeness have been my passion and joy all my life. I received a BA in Counseling Psychology & Women’s Studies in 1981, thinking that this life path would help me figure out what we are doing on this beautiful Planet and understand the dynamics of human life. It did not, but I did get rich experience as a professional counselor in Denver, Colorado advising thousands of women. Upon moving to Michigan, I was hired as the Manager of a Holistic Bookstore & Wellness Center, in my mid 20’s. I was inundated, educated and initiated into the alternative world and began to teach and take a variety of wellness classes. I learned tai chi, yoga, sought counseling for myself, received regular massage therapy and started a deep “inner work” path of my own in the pursuit of becoming a clear and centered spiritual human being. Because of this work on myself, I decided to attend Massage Therapy School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1995 and was soon hired as the lead massage therapist at The American Club Resort and Spa, a five diamond resort located in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Shortly after taking this corporate position the manager of the “Kohler Waters Spa” a 14,000 square foot wellness spa. I became of bridge of communication, care and connection between ninety holistic health care professionals and the corporate world of golf and spa. I developed services, examined construction blueprints, formed business plans, worked spa financials, trained therapists, taught chi gong, dance, meditation, massage and stress management classes.

During this time I took the Upledger Institute CranioSacral Levels I and II and was utterly struck by the paradox of simplistic and medical complexity of this profound healing modality. Moms and infants, children, teenagers, adults, and elders started coming to me for bodywork. This final path has led me back to Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. I am now in private practice at “Essential Kneads”, in Marquette, MI specializing in CranioSacral Therapy and Therapeutic Massage. I am deeply honored to be a board member of Integrative Health Resources and a part of this amazing, natural, alternative and health conscious town, where the skills that I have learned in life, so far, can be applied to my life, my profession, our community and to you. I am extremely grateful.
